Obama Staffer Arrested for Stealing Identity

Barack Obama’s 2008 Iowa New Media Director was arrested Friday for attempting to use the identities of Secretary of State Matt Schultz, and/or his brother Thomas, with the intent to falsely implicate the Secretary Schultz in illegal or unethical behavior. Zach Edwards, 29, of Des Moines, currently works for Link Strategies, a Democrat-affiliated organization with ties to Iowa Senator Tom Harkin. Edwards is the Director of New Media for Link Strategies.

The Secretary of State’s office discovered the alleged crime and reported it to authorities. Edwards turned himself in to the Iowa DCI agents Friday afternoon. He was charged with identity theft, a misdemeanor, and booked into the Polk County jail. Edwards posted $2,000 bail and was released later on Friday. He faces up to two years in prison.

Zach Edwards’ bio on Link Strategies website says he joined the Obama campaign in early 2007 as an intern in Nevada. He eventually joined the New Media department and directed their operations in five other primary states. He was the Iowa Director of New Media for Barack Obama’s general election campaign. After the election, Edwards joined Link Strategies, “where he provides innovative web-based research tools, video analysis and production, and web-based communication tools to assist our clients,” according to the bio.

Those clients include Iowa Senator Tom Harkin. On the Link Strategies testimonial page, Harkin credits Link Strategies for his electoral success. “The folks at Link Strategies have been helping me win campaigns since 1996. Whether it is managing campaigns or handling research, their specialty is doing quality work while finding smart, creative solutions to problems. In a tough fight, there is no question that I want Link Strategies in my corner.”

Jeff Link, the founder of Link Strategies, ran the Gore-Lieberman presidential campaign in Iowa in 2000. He managed Tom Harkin’s 2002 and 2008 reelection campaigns. Link also served as a media consultant for Barack Obama’s 2008 campaign.

Since his surprise victory over incumbent Michael Mauro in November 2010, Secretary of State Schultz has been a target of the Iowa Democratic Party. Interestingly, on June 24, the same day as Zach Edwards alleged crime, Under the Golden Dome, a blog connected to Iowa Democrats, launched a three-part series of articles critical of Matt Schultz. They were based on documents obtained through an open records request from “a tipster.” The blog alleged that a batch of emails from Schultz’s office “raise some serious questions about his ability to remain independent and ensure election integrity”.

Just 15 days earlier, on June 9, the Iowa Democratic Party filed an ethics complaint against Schultz, claiming the Secretary of State of used public resources to campaign against presidential hopeful Jon Huntsman. The Iowa Ethics and Campaign Disclosure Board dismissed the complaint on July 19.

Do you realize that with FB’s anti-privacy “improvements,” any page that you Like (even to just keep an eye on things) when you mention them you automatically show up on their public wall? Take our friends at Dept. of Homeland Security here – I see several of my friends from our little cyber politics world. And having just figured this out, some are freaking out! Look at their posts. As for me, I’m probably setting off alarms by spreading this to all my groups. Looks like many of us may find ourselves in detention at Gitmo. Hope they at least offer us an unsustainable bar tab.
And be careful who or what you Like!

Rick Santorum succeeds in minimizing Ron Paul

By Jennifer Rubin

Ryan Lizza wrote a column a few days ago citing the five things liberal journalists are rooting for in the Republican presidential primary, including a Ron Paul win in Iowa, a Jon Huntsman win in New Hampshire and a brokered convention. None of those things are happening, telling you how isolated from reality these political “gurus” are.

There is a special irony that the man who put Ron Paul in his place and thereby did his party a great service is none other than Rick Santorum, who is the Republican most despised by the left. His views on abortion and gay marriage, not to mention his robust foreign policy, are an anathema to the left. There is no candidate who has been more mocked or ridiculed than he.

But let’s consider what he accomplished in relegating Ron Paul to third place. He spared Iowa and the party more generally from the ignominy of rewarding the man responsible for racist newsletters and bizarre views on Iran and 9/11. In Lizza’s dream world, Ron Paul is the “winner,” no matter what the results. In fact, a pro-freedom, hawkish national security outlook triumphed. It was a central part of Santorum’s message, and it was a view embraced by Mitt Romney as well.

The GOP nominee, whether Romney or Santorum, will be staunchly in favor of a military option, if needed, to stop Iran from getting a nuclear weapon. He or she will be exceptionally critical of Obama’s foreign policy, especially his treatment of Israel. He or she will be a robust defender of religious freedom around the world and opposed to the dictator-coddling stance that the left favors. He or she will be opposed to slashing defense.

Santorum also deserves credit for insisting that foreign policy be a key part of the campaign. He could have played it down, but in his stump speech and interviews he persisted in calling attention to the dangers the United States faces and in calling for ample defense spending. He disproved the notion that you have to talk purely about what the polls tell us voters want to hear.

In sum, the isolationist left should be glum. Santorum dashed their hopes that the kooky, isolationist segment of the electorate would get a real foothold. In doing so, Santorum showed he is in touch with the actual Republican Party, not the crackpot party that exists in the dreams of liberal reporters.

2012: The Year Of The Hand of God In America

As we start a new year some thoughts come to me from something my pastor’s wife said Sunday morning, January 1, 2012. She recently did a study on the number 12 and its significance in Scripture. It reminded me of the deep importance of God in the development of our nation and the importance of God in the coming year. This is what she said:

In the Bible “12″ represents God’s perfect government and Divine authority. To write “12″ in Hebrew two Hebrew letters are used … “yod” which signifies hand or outworking and “beth” which signifies house. “The outworking of the household in harmony under Divine authority.” I am claiming this for each household and our house of worship that we will see God’s authority extended to our territory from our homes and churches.

OH YEAH! AMEN!

Before I started my writing career 18 months ago, I was inspired by a series of documentaries I watched about the founding of our nation and how our founding fathers placed so much importance on Divine Providence. I saw how their faith in God and their devotion to Biblical principles guided them in their pursuit of liberty and freedom for all, not just the wealthy, elite group in which most of them belonged.

Our nation was founded by men who believed in God very strongly and prayed every step of the way; through the years of protesting to King George of England about their grievances; through the horrible years of the Revolutionary War when death, suffering, fear, and want were the order of the day; then through the 11 years it took to actually form a nation, write the Constitution of the United States of America, and have it ratified by the various states.

Those in charge of government, both political parties, vote into law legislation they don’t read. And frankly, they don’t know or care what it says. And then we have the endless array of bureaucrats who justify their jobs by adding to the endless stream of tyrannical rules we are expected to follow, followed up by judges who rule according to their atheistic agenda rather than according to the Constitution.

We have a president who is not constitutionally eligible to serve, yet both parties ignore the Constitution because it is easier to do that than stand up and do what is right. We have state elected officials who ignore the Constitution of the United States, as well as their state Constitution because these documents get in the way of their personal or political party agendas. We have cronyism more blatant than ever before in my life time, total disregard for the citizens of this nation, total disregard for the laws of this nation, and a situation that seems can only be resolved by armed conflict ala 1776. There is another way.
